Time Conjunctions

Ago = before now

• My parent got married 20 years ago (= 20 years before now).

Before = before (as past time) 

• Helen and Bob got married last week. They had met six month before (= before last week).

Until/ till = up to the time when

• You must stay at the office till you finish the report = up to the time when you finish the report
• You must stay at the office till you have finished the report
• You must stay at the office till 12 o' clock = up to 12 o' clock

NOTE:
A) Not....until = Not....before

I will not have finished my report until Monday = I will not have finished my report before Monday.

B) Until / till/ before: Για να εκφράσουμε μετά από πόσο καιρό θα γίνει ένα γεγονός.

There is only one week until my holidays = There is only one week before my holidays.

By the time + clause = not later than the moment something happens.

• I will have set the table by the time you come home = before, no later than the moment you come home

By = no later than

During + noun = throughout = in the time period

While/ as + clause = in the time period = on-going, same time activities
